The Celtic bird found on the Irish old 1 penny coin. It is thought to resemble a pheasant - a game bird. This is a macro image of the head, feathers and knot details. The depiction on the coin resembles those found in the Book of Kells, Ireland's finest National Treasure! The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book written in Latin. It's believed to be dated to about 800 AD. The 1 penny coin was minted in Ireland from 1971 to 1998, when the Euro coinage system took over.

This is a black and white image, printed on professional FineArt photography photorag paper using LUCIA pigment inks, which combined have an age resistance for up to 80+ years if kept out of direct UV light.
