I worked with the writer, Larry Gallagher, recently on an article about the Irish Uilleann Pipes for The Craftsmanship Initiative which is an online magazine and resource based in San Francisco, America.

I visited and photographed an uilleann pipe maker and player, John Butler (Ceol Pipes) out on Achill Island early September 2019 and recorded him at work in his workshops and on Achill Island. The rugged landscape is a great backdrop to hear the haunting sound of the uilleann pipes. John was great to work with and showed his mastery at his craft.

Earlier in 2019, I visited the Pipers Craft Workshop run between the Na Piobairi Uilleann (NPU) and Dublin's Ballyfermot College of Further Education. I met with the students there who work on a year-long project making their own set of pipes. I spent a morning photographing and recording their work and a few tunes too.

You can read the excellent finished article on The Craftsmanship Initiative site.
